Tom Haslehurst FCA
Tom qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in 1997, gaining extensive experience of accounting, audit and corporate tax matters. He then spent four years as a manager with KPMG Corporate Finance, advising large and small clients on buying and selling businesses and raising finance, before joining Haslehursts in 2002. As well as looking after clients' general accountancy, audit and tax needs, Tom is keen to help clients grow and become more profitable and can offer specialised corporate finance and financial due diligence services to help these goals to be achieved. Tom's extra-curricular interests include golf, playing football and supporting Derby County and spending time with his young family.
Andrew Haslehurst FCA FCCA CTA
Rew qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2001 within the audit department at Kidsons Impey. He moved to specialise in corporate tax with Baker Tilly in London and completed his Chartered Tax Advisor exams in 2005. Rew moved back to Birmingham and Haslehursts in 2006 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2011. Rew is a general partner and particularly enjoys tax planning including reorganisations, exit strategies and employee share schemes. In his spare time, Rew enjoys playing and watching football (another long-suffering Derby fan), music and making the most of his time with his family and dog.
Philippa Pearce FCCA
Philippa qualified with a small local practice based in Lichfield that she joined in 1989. After gaining considerable experience of general practice, she joined Haslehursts in February 2000. Philippa is responsible for a number of our corporate clients, and also specialises in personal taxation and payroll matters. She is one of our Sage experts and will help to train clients in the use of Sage and other accounting packages. Philippa’s interests outside of work include travelling, cinema and reading.
Stuart Penfold FCCA
Stuart joined Haslehursts in October 2011 tasked with managing and growing the audit services of Haslehursts, along with advising his non-audit clients. His responsibilities include working closely with clients to ensure that Haslehursts deliver the best possible compliance and advisory services to them. Stuart qualified in 1998 and prior to joining the firm he spent 10 years working at Dains, a midlands based mid-tier firm, where he was responsible for a significant portfolio of the firm’s larger clients. He has a strong commercial background and has experience advising companies with turnover ranging from £50k up to £60m across many industry sectors and has specialisms including Pension Scheme and Housing Association audits. Stuart was a keen footballer but age and a bad back crept up on him, forcing him into a reluctant retirement. He is an Aston Villa supporter and an occasional golfer.
Anita Stewart
Anita joined Haslehursts in 2018 with over 25 years' experience within personal tax and is our Tax Director. Having worked at large national practices and small boutique firms, there are few tax scenarios that Anita hasn't encountered. Anita is a tax residence specialist and she particularly enjoys demystifying tax and helping clients understand their tax issues, as well as day-to-day compliance. Away from work, Anita is married with grown up daughters who share her passion for shopping!
Katie Horsley MAAT, ACCA
Katie is the Accounts Manager with overall responsibility for workflow through the office. Katie has been with Haslehursts since 2010 and in this time she has completed both the AAT and ACCA qualifications. Katie has great all-round experience and has developed a detailed knowledge of cloud-based accounting systems. Outside work, Katie’s hobbies are supporting West Bromwich Albion and walking her 3 dogs Rocky, Max and Blue.
Nicci Patstone AAT
Nicci began her accountancy career in 1992 at NEC Group where she worked in various roles from the NEC Finance team to Box Office at the NIA and Symphony Hall. She moved to PriceWaterhouseCoopers in 2000 where she worked in audit and gained her AAT qualification in November 2000. Nicci joined Haslehursts in 2003 working in payroll and accounts services. Nicci is now the Payroll Manager, with overall responsibility for the firm’s payroll clients. Nicci’s interests include jogging and she is a regular of the local Fun Run and has taken part in the Great North Run half marathon. She also enjoys supporting Aston Villa football club and is the mother of two lively boys.
Sally Marshall AAT
Sally began her accountancy career in 1997 at a small local firm before joining Haslehursts in 2000. She gained her AAT qualification in 2001 and has general responsibility for accounts and payroll including filing accounts and corporation tax returns. She is also a Sage expert. In her spare time, Sally enjoys going to the gym and watching cricket - she is the treasurer of Lichfield Cricket Club.
Adam Clayton ACCA
Adam joined Haslehursts in 2016 as an auditor and accountant and has since become an audit senior in the firm. Adam is responsible for auditing many corporate clients across a range of sectors and also specialist areas such as Housing Associations and Golf Clubs. He began his career in accountancy in 2011, became AAT qualified in 2014 and ACCA qualified in 2019. Outside work, he enjoys playing football and spending time with his daughter.
Connor McEntee
Connor joined Haslehursts in June 2018 as an accounts trainee. He is currently studying towards the AAT qualification. In his spare time Connor enjoys playing rugby and cricket for his local side.
Jake Jones
Jake joined Haslehursts as an accounts trainee in June 2019, following the completion of his A-levels. He is currently studying towards gaining his AAT qualification. In his spare time he enjoys playing and watching football and is a Wolverhampton Wanderers season ticket holder.
Dawn Moss
Dawn began working in accountancy over 30 years ago. She spent 20 years at Deloitte in Birmingham, where she worked for various departmental partners, including the Senior Partner until he retired in 1994. Dawn joined Haslehursts in 1997 as a secretary and receptionist. Outside of work, Dawn’s interests include cooking, gardening and walking her border collie, Sonny.
Gail Turner
Gail has worked in PA, secretarial and administrative roles for over 20 years across various sectors including hospitality and financial services, mainly in Birmingham city centre. Gail joined Haslehursts in 2009 as a secretary and receptionist. Gail’s interests include travel (restricted to camping in Devon these days rather than round-the-world trips!), eating out, and she enjoys reading and is a member of a local book club. Gail is also kept busy by her two growing boys and supports Aston Villa football club.
Oliver Taylor ACCA
Ollie has worked in accountancy since 2015, completing his AAT qualification in 2017. Ollie joined Haslehursts in September 2020 as an auditor and accountant and is studying for his ACCA exams. Away from work, Ollie enjoys film, photography, travelling and music.
Sam Hancox
Sam joined Haslehursts as an Accounts and Personal Tax junior in July 2021 and is currently studying towards gaining his AAT qualification. In his spare time, Sam enjoys watching football and follows Aston Villa home and away.
Abi Jenkins
Abi started her career in Accountancy in 2013 and became AAT qualified in October 2016. Over the years she has gained experience in payroll, bookkeeping and dealing with service charge accounts. In her spare time, Abi enjoys spending time with her young daughter, going on family walks and attending the gym with hot yoga currently her favourite class.
Sarah Olivia Gee
Sarah started her accountancy journey in 2016 volunteering in a couple of practices whilst completing her A levels. She then joined a small practice and completed her AAT qualification in 2021. Sarah joined the Haslehursts family in July 2022 and is now studying for her ACCA exams. Sarah is proficient in most bookkeeping software and is our resident Xero expert. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys going on walks with her dog and the gym.
Barney Haslehurst
Barney is the latest addition to the Haslehursts family. He joined us in March 2014 and can usually be found in reception, licking clients. Although his hair is almost identical to Gail’s, they’re not related.
Ziggy
At long last Barney has his very own apprentice. Ziggy joined the firm in the summer of 2017 and is a lovely lad. And he's thankfully now toilet trained!
